What is the difference between Ceramic, Porcelain, Matte Porcelain and Lousanite whiteboards?

The difference lies in the superior durability of the porcelain whiteboard material, which, according to the manufacturer, exceeds 20 years. Over time, with writing and repeated cleaning, ceramic whiteboards tend to wear out and become marked and scratched, although they offer an excellent quality/price ratio.

Ceramic whiteboards:

Also referred to as “lacquered steel” by some manufacturers, these are high-quality whiteboards suited for moderate or regular use. Magnetic whiteboards lacquered white with a 270 °C treatment and an aluminum foil backing.

These whiteboards are not recommended (and will void their warranty) for use in a school or similar environment (tutoring centers, training rooms, or any other intensive-use setting).

Porcelain whiteboards:

High-quality whiteboards suited for intensive use. Magnetic whiteboards in white porcelain, vitrified at 800 °C, with an aluminum foil backing.

These whiteboards are recommended for use in a school or similar environment.

Matte porcelain whiteboards:

High-quality whiteboards, suited for intensive use. Magnetic whiteboards in white porcelain, vitrified at 800 °C, with an aluminum foil backing. A matte finish ideal for use with a video projector, eliminating the need for a projection screen, or for rooms with a lot of light, eliminating most glare.

These whiteboards are recommended for use in a school or similar environment; however, they require more maintenance when it comes to cleaning, since they aren’t glossy and tend to retain more marker marks, which are easily removed with daily cleaning.

Lousanite whiteboards:

Chalkboards made from phenolic fibers and resins. These boards are not recommended (and will void the warranty) for use in a school or similar environment; black or green porcelain boards should be used in that type of environment instead.

Melamine / laminate / plastic whiteboards:

We do not sell (nor do we recommend buying) whiteboards with a writing surface made of melamine/laminate or plastic due to the poor quality and limited durability of these materials.
